CBAM 2026 - new obligations for importers. What do you need to know?
In the latest episode Target Tips Marcin Szreder explains the principles CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) - EU mechanism to control CO₂ emissions in the production of goods imported into the European Union. The system includes. steel, cement, fertilisers, aluminium and electricity.
Until the end of 2025, the following is still in force CBAM transition period, however, since 1 January 2026. importers will be concerned with new, much more extensive duties. This is primarily about the precise reporting of emissions, the need to obtain data from manufacturers and the accounting of so-called CBAM certificates.
If your company deals with imports of goods covered by CBAM, it is advisable to prepare now for the upcoming changes in order to avoid billing errors and ensure compliance with EU regulations.
